A plan for the future starts with our past

With our Sustainability Strategy 2030, we commit to capture our historical CO2 emissions and to reach carbon neutrality on our 100-year anniversary in 2041.

Together with WWF International (World Wide Fund for Nature), we are capturing our historical C02 emissions through forest conservation.  We will also reduce our future carbon emissions from our entire value chain in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5˚C reduction target.

We call this Lifetime Carbon Neutral.

With our Sustainability Strategy 2030, we commit to capture our historical CO2 emissions and to reach carbon neutrality on our 100-year anniversary in 2041.

Climate science shows it is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, so we commit to reduce our future emissions to meet this target and lead the change in global corporate climate action. The Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) has approved our targets aligned with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C path.

What about our skylights?

Since wood is a primary material in most VELUX skylights, we have a direct obligation to ensure that wood sourcing for our production does not have negative consequences for the environment and forest biodiversity. In 2019, 99.6% of the wood used for VELUX Skylights in Europe was sourced from certified sustainable forests.

We have always strived to develop products useful to society and therefore it is imperative that our roof windows and overall product sustainability are at the core of our Sustainability Strategy 2030. More specifically, by 2030 we commit to e.g. halving our products C02 emissions and making our packaging single material, zero plastic and 100 percent recyclable.
